Here are our tips for getting the most out your maid service. You want the most efficient use of your maid’s time, and so do we.

There are some things you can do that will help us to get more done.

1. Put your clothes away.

If you have clothes everywhere, we can’t know what’s clean and what’s dirty. So, we can’t sort them for you, but we have to move them to clean under them. It’s much more efficient if you pick up your clothes, and put the dirty ones in the laundry and the clean ones away in the closet or your drawers. Then we can spend our time dusting and cleaning and vacuuming and not folding up your clothes, some of which will likely be dirty.

2. Put your dishes away.

If there are dirty dishes all over the kitchen, then we’ll fill your dishwasher or pile them in the sink. However, we can’t clean the sink when it’s filled with dirty dishes. The same thing applies to dishes as to clothing. If you put dishes away where they belong, then it’s easier and faster for us to clean the sink, counters, and all the nooks and crannies to make your kitchen sparkle.

3. Let us know ahead of time if you want something special done.

We have to decide if we have the skills and the tools to do it, and if we can do it safely.

If you need something special like sweeping your deck, then let the office know ahead of time. Our cleaning staff need direction from the office if they are asked to do things that they don’t normally do. It will save time and energy if you prepare for this before we get there.

For example, if you ask the cleaning staff upon arrival if they can dust a chandelier that’s hanging from a twenty-foot ceiling, the answer is probably “no,” but the staff may have to take time to discuss this with the office. Special requests should really be dealt with before we get there.

4. Let us know ahead of time about other special information.

To give you an example, if your place is in unusually rough shape because you’ve recently had 12 houseguests, let us know that. Maybe we’ll send more staff for your scheduled cleaning, or we’ll rearrange the schedule because we will know that more time will be needed. This kind of information helps us to do the best job possible.
