What You Can Expect When You Hire A Professional House Cleaning Service

    Maid Services | Bloomingdale, GA

    Nicole Hubbard, Owner

It can be truly life-changing to have a maid service. You are rewarded with Time, which is the ultimate gift. Everyone needs more time, after all. However, it can be scary to hire a maid service. There are some real concerns about security and safety.

We recommend that you use our 7 Hiring Questions for interviewing a housekeeper or a cleaning company – or actually any professional company that works inside your home. Watch for direct and clear answers and listen for places where they are cutting corners, they are not following the law, or the company representative seems put off by having to answer all of your questions. Any or all of these red flags should have you yelling “next!”

There is also having to deal with the unknown: not being sure of how things work or what is expected and what you can expect. We have compiled a list of what you really need to know when it comes to hiring a maid service.

How much does it cost to hire a maid service?

You may think that maid services are only for rich people. When I was growing up, I only knew one person who had maid service. She was my grandmother’s employer! However, that is outdated. These days, millions of people hire maid services compared to just ten years ago, and this increasing customer demographic is not rich and famous people. They are two-income couples that have pets and kids. There are maid services that charge by the project, the size of the house (rooms, square footage(, by the hour. Other factors such as cleanliness, the number of stories, or pets can affect the price as well. The national average for professional maid services according to Home Adviser is $165. What is the most dependable way to obtain a price for your house? For a free quote, contact us. It is a no-obligation, free, no hard-sell quote, and it is the best way to get started so you can no longer say “I cannot afford it.”

Be aware that if you hire a professional maid service for a certain number of hours, they may send out two or three maids and you will have to divide up the number of hours that you have paid for by how many maids there are. That might sound obvious, however, customers are frequently concerned about getting what she or he paid for.

What if you have a small budget?

First of all, maid services are not as expensive as many people think. The most expensive cleaning is the initial top-to-boom, deep cleaning. Regular recurring service will cost you a lot less money. If you have a set budget, hire a professional maid service to take on a set of priorities or a specific project. Maybe not every room in your house needs to be cleaned and instead, your budget will allow you to have your dirtiest, most user rooms to get professionally cleaned on a regular basis. Make sure you consider all of the benefits that a professional maid service has to offer. If you normally do your own cleaning, what much is your time worth to you? Usually hiring a maid service is a very good investment.

When I call about a maid service what will they ask me?

We will discuss your home. Like the number of stories and bathrooms it has, and the number of people and pets who live there. We will ask what thing you would like to have done. Do you want cleaning for a move out or move in, a thorough spring cleaning, a one time cleaning for a party, or regularly scheduled weekly service so that your house is always clean whenever someone drops by? We will ask you how soon you need to have the service. We promise we won’t ask you any tough questions.

What does a professional maid service actually do?

On our website, we clearly list all of the things we do and do not do and go over those things with you whenever we call you to discuss your service. That way there are not any surprises. There are many services that provide refrigerator cleaning, windows, and carpet cleaning as extra services. Also, most maid services do not do outside cleaning or move furniture. Determine in advance what you want your maid service to do for you.

Is it possible to avoid the chemical odors of the cleansers that are used by many maid services?

We don’t like those smells either, so we definitely agree with you. We use your cleaning supplies so we use whatever you like and your equipment so that we don’t track someone else’s germy, dirty vacuum throughout your house. We also bring our own tools and cleaners from Speed Cleaning that you might like as much as us. We bring our own vacuum cleaner as well just in case yours is not working. Make sure to ask whatever maid service you are planning to hire what they expect you to provide and what they provide.

Do I need to clean before the maid service shows up?

Two out of every three customers report that they clean before their maid service comes, so if you do you are not the only one. We do recommend that you do some tidying up since you don’t want to have to pay your maid service to pick up your socks and toys (or perhaps you do). Take care of those things so that the professionals can deal with tougher tasks such as dusting your shelves, washing the floors, and cleaning the bathrooms.

Do I need to hide my valuables?

Hopefully, you followed our 7 Hiring Questions when hiring your maid service and you have a lot of trust in them. However, you should put expensive items away and also less expensive items that are important to you. Put them in a safe place that reduces the chances of an accident occurring. When you book, tell us if you would prefer for us to not vacuum under your Grandmother’s antique rocker or dust off your baby and piano.

Is it strange for me to be at home while the maid service is cleaning? It is completely up to you, but you should plan on being out of the way when the professionals are doing the cleaning if you are going to be at home Provide any information about your house likely how to enter safely if you are away from home and identify any priorities you have when you are booking the service so this information can be added to he maid’s work order. The more often we come and clean, the less strange it will be to have you at home

Is it customary to tip my cleaners?

It is up to you whether or not you want to tip, but a gift or monetary tip does tell us we did a good job and we do appreciate it. A normal tip is 10 to 15% of the total cost of the service. When your cleaning job is confirmed you may want to find out how many maids will be coming or if there will be a lead maid. You can tip the maid a bit more since they are the ones who assign tasks and ensures the job is done on time and quality is maintained. Or you can leave it to her or him to distribute the overall tip to the other workers. If there will be two maids or more, then we recommend that you don’t leave just one gift. It can be hard to split.

Now that you have our 7 Hiring Questions along with the above answers, perhaps you are ready to hire a maid service.  Contact Hubbard’s Maid Service today!
